An expanded Radiation Oncology Department and new Center for Radiosurgery were celebrated last week at the White Plains Hospital Center for Cancer Care. The newly renovated space will provide patients access to the Varian Edge® Radiosurgery System – the first facility in Westchester Rockland, Putnam and Fairfield (CT) counties to do so.

(March 1, 2018)— Continuing its commitment to making advanced cancer care available close to home for Westchester residents, White Plains Hospital has announced the appointment of Mark Burshteyn, MD, as Director of Interventional Oncology. An enhanced service at the Hospital, interventional oncology is a subspecialty of interventional radiology that uses image guidance and minimally invasive procedures including embolization and ablation to treat and cure many types of cancer by shrinking and destroying tumors. It is the fastest growing area in interventional radiology and has been recognized as another pillar of oncologic care, together with radiation oncology, medical oncology, and surgical oncology. Benefits of interventional oncologic techniques include minimal incisions, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, and reduced morbidity.
