White Plains Hospital Welcomes Surgeon Dr. Ryan Chin

White Plains, N.Y. (August 25, 2025) – White Plains Hospital has announced that board-certified bariatric and general surgeon Dr. Ryan Chin has joined its staff at WPHPA Surgical Specialties in White Plains.

He completed his medical degree at Albany Medical College, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then completed his general surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, serving as Administrative Chief Resident for education and receiving the department’s Jedd Sereysky Prize for Humanism in Surgery in recognition of his compassion and dedication to patient care.

He went on to complete fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins University. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Chin also obtained his Master of Public Health from the University of Albany School of Public Health.

Dr. Chin’s clinical interests include advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques for gastrointestinal surgery, hernia repair, and weight-loss (bariatric) surgery. His approach to care is patient-centered and outcome-focused, with an emphasis on clear and caring communication to guide patients confidently through every step of their surgical journey.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chin is active in clinical research with numerous publications in prominent peer reviewed journals on topics such as bariatric surgery, hernia repair outcomes, surgical education, and surgical technology. He has presented his work at both national and international society meetings. He continues to stay active as member of several surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Hernia Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
