White Plains Hospital Receives Third Consecutive 5-Star Quality Rating from Federal Agency

August 1, 2024

The Hospital Is One of Only 10 in New York to Receive Highest Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

White Plains, N.Y. (August 1, 2024) – White Plains Hospital announced today that, for the third consecutive year, it has earned a five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest distinction offered by the federal agency.

White Plains Hospital is the only hospital in Westchester and Fairfield counties, as well as in the Hudson Valley, to earn five stars for three consecutive years. It is also one of just 10 hospitals in New York State to receive this honor in 2024.

The CMS quality ratings are based on more than 40 quality measurements that fall into five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmissions after treatment of common conditions, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

“Quality has always been our North Star and this third consecutive 5-Star rating recognizes the commitment of our entire staff to providing the highest-quality care and an exceptional experience for all our patients,” said Susan Fox, President & CEO of White Plains Hospital.

“Retaining our 5-star CMS rating is an exemplary achievement and stands as further proof of our staff’s efforts to make White Plains Hospital the safest and most trusted provider of care in the region,” added William Null, Chairman of the Board of Directors at White Plains Hospital.

The CMS recognition comes on the heels of the Hospital’s receiving several other recent accolades, including: earning an “A” Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group for the 11th consecutive time; being named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News and World Report; securing the Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ from Healthgrades for the ninth time; and being one of only two Hospitals in New York State, and one of just 79 hospitals nationwide, to receive the Patient Safety Excellence Award™ and Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ from Healthgrades®.
