White Plains Hospital Hosts Events During Breast Cancer Awareness Month

White Plains, NY (October 5, 2015) – In honor of breast cancer awareness month, White Plains Hospital is sponsoring and participating in numerous events throughout the month of October.  Below is a roundup of events:

Throughout October (and beyond): Breast Cancer Screenings  
White Plains Hospital has breast imaging centers in three locations: White Plains (914-681-2929), Rye Brook (914-935-0011) and New Rochelle (914-336-5900). Evening hours are available at these locations during select times. Call the office closest to you at the number listed for more information or to schedule an appointment.

October 6:  Irish Sod Racing Fundraiser                    
6:00 – 9:00 PM
Ron Blacks Beer Hall, 181 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains
Come to Irish bar Ron Blacks to experience a fun Irish tradition that is little-known in the U.S. – the racing of the sod bricks! Participants will race pieces of dirt from Ireland across the ceiling by pulling on strings.  Sign up to be a race “jockey,” sponsor a racer in advance ($150), or pick a racer to support ($30) on the day of the event. Proceeds from the event will benefit White Plains Hospital’s Cancer Program. For more information or to sign up for the event in advance, please call 914-681-1119.

October 13: Journey of a Lifetime: Staying Positive Through Cancer

Authors Deb Ebenstein and Geralyn Lucas will share empowering stories about surviving cancer with resilience, courage, optimism and humor at the talk “Journey of a Lifetime: Staying Positive Through Cancer.”  Dr. Subuhee Hussain from White Plains Hospital will be moderating the conversation. Tickets are $10. October 15Mammos and Manis: A Girls’ Night Out at the Beauty Bar

Bloomingdale’s, White Plains, Cosmetics, Floor 1, White Plains
Join us for a night of beauty that will be both fun and informative.  A reservation fee of $25 entitles you to hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and goodie bags – and is also redeemable on your cosmetics, skincare, or fragrance purchase.  From 6 -6:30 PM, there will be a brief panel discussion about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and 10% of all purchases from this event will be donated to White Plains Hospital’s Cancer Program. October 18: Making Strides Walk

Walk with White Plains Hospital’s team HOPE to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and White Plains Hospital’s Cancer Program at the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk.
