July 27, 2023

The Hospital Is One of Just 11 in New York to Receive Highest Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

White Plains, N.Y. (July 27, 2023) – White Plains Hospital announced today that, for the second consecutive year, it has earned a five-star hospital rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest distinction offered by the federal agency.

White Plains Hospital is the only Hospital in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, as well as in the Hudson Valley, to earn five stars. It is also one of just 11 hospitals in New York State to receive this honor. To learn more and see how White Plains Hospital compares to other hospitals in the region, visit:

The CMS ratings are based on more than 40 quality measurements that fall into five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmissions after treatment of common conditions, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

“We are incredibly proud to once again be awarded the highest quality rating from CMS,” said Susan Fox, President & CEO of White Plains Hospital. “To be among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation who received five stars demonstrates our culture of excellence and the quality of care that our incredible team of physicians, providers, nurses and staff provide to our community.”

“Receiving and retaining our 5-star CMS rating is a tremendous accomplishment, and reflective of the entire staff’s ongoing commitment to putting patients first,” added William Null, Chairman of the Board of Directors at White Plains Hospital. “This once again validates the fact that our Hospital’s reputation and impressive outcomes make us the most trusted provider of quality care in the region.”

The CMS recognition comes on the heels of the Hospital’s receiving several other recent accolades, including: earning an “A” Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group for the 9th consecutive time; being named one of the world’s best hospitals by Newsweek for the second year in a row; securing the Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ from Healthgrades for the eighth time; and being the only Hospital in New York to be named to Fortune media and Great Place To Work’s® list of Best Workplaces in New York.
