White Plains Hospital today recognized 22 students who completed an intensive, seven-week apprenticeship program during the summer months. A graduation ceremony was held in the hospital’s auditorium, attended by Hospital leaders, staff members, the graduates and their families. Liver Tumor Removed Using Laparoscopic Procedure at White Plains Hospital

Surgeon Rafik El Sabrout, MD, PhD, FACS, FRCS(G), successfully performed a laparoscopic removal of a liver tumor at White Plains Hospital on April 16th as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This marks the first time a surgeon has removed this type of tumor using a fully laparoscopic procedure at White Plains Hospital. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a thin tube to make small, precise incisions.

White Plains Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Laurence R. Smith as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Smith was approved as the Board Chair at the White Plains Hospital’s Annual Board Meeting on April 27, 2015. He succeeds J. Michael Divney, who served as Board Chair since 2010.
