Healthgrades Recognizes White Plains Hospital

June 29, 2018

“We are so pleased to once again be recognized with this distinguished award from Healthgrades,” said Susan Fox, White Plains Hospital President and CEO.  “It is a meaningful validation of our efforts providing the highest quality care and the best possible experience at White Plains Hospital.”

White Plains Hospital was one of only seven hospitals in New York – and one of only 439 hospitals in the country – to receive this recognition by Healthgrades. Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients were identified through an evaluation of 10 patient experience measures, using data collected from a 32-question HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Services) survey of the hospital’s own patients. The survey focused on the patients’ perspectives of care during their inpatient hospital stay. Experiences measured include communication with doctors and nurses, pain management, information on medications and discharge planning, as well as the cleanliness and quietness of the environment. Only hospitals in the top 15 percent of overall patient experience scores are recognized as Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients. White Plains Hospital first received the award in 2014, and then again in 2016.

“Patient experience surveys offer important insights about hospitals and their commitment to providing patients with outstanding experience and, furthermore, consumers value that information when making care decisions,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Healthgrades. “Hospitals that have received the Healthgrades 2018 Outstanding Patient Experience Award have received high marks from their most important stake holders – the patients themselves.”
