White Plains, N.Y., Jan. 5, 2022 - White Plains Hospital announced today that Dr. Kimberly Yee, FACS, FASCRS, Director of the Colorectal Cancer Program, has been appointed Vice-Chair of the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) Education Committee. The NAPRC is one of the programs administered by the American College of Surgeons, a prestigious scientific and educational association of surgeons that sets high standards for surgical education and practice to improve the quality of care.
“I am pleased to accept this important role as part of the Education Committee of the NAPRC,” said Dr. Yee. “Our work is critical to ensuring the uniformity and quality of rectal cancer care across the country.”
Dr. Yee, who has pioneered several new technologies in the management of colorectal disease at White Plains Hospital, is the first board-certified female colorectal surgeon to practice in Westchester County. In 2020, White Plains Hospital was awarded a three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer. White Plains Hospital was one of just 16 in the entire United States, and the second in New York State, to earn this prestigious distinction from the NAPRC.

Dr. Yee has been in practice for over twenty years, received her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center and completed both her Residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. She then completed a second Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
