Dr. Kimberly Yee Appointed Chair of the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) Education Committee

November 2, 2023

White Plains, N.Y., November 2, 2023 - White Plains Hospital announced today that Dr. Kimberly Yee, FACS, FASCRS, Director of the Colorectal Cancer Program, has been appointed Chair of the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC) Education Committee. The NAPRC is one of the programs administered by the American College of Surgeons, a prestigious scientific and educational association of surgeons that sets high standards for surgical education and practice to improve the quality of care.

“I am gratified to accept this critical role as part of the Education Committee of the NAPRC,” said Dr. Yee, who was named Vice Chair of the NAPRC Education Committee in 2022. “Our work plays a key part in ensuring the uniformity and quality of rectal cancer care across the country by reviewing program management, clinical services, and quality improvement measures.”

The first board-certified female colorectal surgeon to practice in Westchester County, Dr. Yee has pioneered several new technologies in the management of colorectal disease at White Plains Hospital, and performed the first transanal endoscopic microsurgical removal of a colon polyp at the Hospital.

Dr. Yee has been in practice for over 20 years and received her medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center. She completed both her Residency in General Surgery and Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. She then completed a second Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

In 2023, White Plains Hospital, under Dr. Yee’s leadership, was awarded another three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer. White Plains Hospital was one of just seven in New York State to earn this prestigious distinction from the NAPRC.
