WPHPA family medicine physician Dr. Julia Krim spoke to News12 about the top health screenings to prioritize.

The below are excerpts from a video that first ran on News 12 on January 9, 2026.

As the new year begins, familiar resolutions like losing weight and exercising more often take center stage.

Doctors say it's also time to focus on crucial medical exams that should not be delayed.

Dr. Julia Krim, a family medicine physician at White Plains Hospital, joined News 12 to discuss which blood tests should be a priority in the new year. She also shared recommendations on what to discuss with doctors during checkups and how to schedule major exams.

“What tests we do for which patients is really dependent on your age, your medical history, and what stage of life you’re at. But a good place to start when you check in with your doctor is a blood count, a chemistry, a cholesterol panel and something that looks at your blood sugar.”
