Consuming enough water each day is essential to good bladder health.
An adult needs to drink around six to eight, eight-ounce glasses of liquid a day to maintain optimal bladder (and bowel) health. But this amount varies depending on your age, weight, overall health and activity level. It also depends on the types of liquids you consume, since not all liquids are created equal.
Caffeine and alcohol are both diuretics – they draw fluids out of the body. And carbonated drinks can have a stimulating effect on the bladder, causing gas and a bloated feeling. Certain acidy fruit juices can disturb one’s stomach and intestines.
So how can you keep your bladder healthy?
Drink water!
Water is pure and your body uses it to cleanse your system. And, in addition to your bladder, it is also good for your skin, and your muscles. And it has no calories.
