White Plains, N.Y., May 1, 2025 – White Plains Hospital has earned its 13th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from national nonprofit watchdog The Leapfrog Group. The Hospital has received an “A” rating each period since the beginning of 2019, and is the only hospital in the Hudson Valley – as well as one of only four hospitals in New York – to receive this top grade 13 straight times.
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems that hospitals have in place to prevent them. Highly regarded for the high quality of its care, White Plains Hospital has been the recipient of several quality awards recently, including its third straight five-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest distinction offered by the federal agency. In addition, earlier this year, the Hospital earned Healthgrades’ Patient Safety Excellence Award for the second year in a row, making it one of 10 hospitals in the state to be awarded, placing it among the top 5% in the nation for patient safety.
“We are extremely pleased to once again be recognized as one of the safest hospitals in the country,” said Dr. Rafael E. Torres, Chief Quality Officer at White Plains Hospital. “Providing high-quality, safe care, has always been our commitment to our patients and we take pride in knowing that we are setting the standards both locally and nationally on how care should be provided.”
