White Plains, N.Y., December 18, 2024 – White Plains Hospital announced today that it has been named a 2024 Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for the fourth time. The Hospital is one of just 36 general hospitals nationwide, and one of only two in New York, to receive this prestigious honor.
The selection of Leapfrog’s Top Hospitals is based on the results of the 2024 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, completed by nearly 2,400 hospitals. Performance measures across many areas of hospital care that impact quality, safety and value are considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors. A full explanation of The Leapfrog Group’s methodology can be found here.
Last month, White Plains Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for the 12th consecutive time. The Hospital has received an “A” rating each period since the beginning of 2019, and is the only hospital in the Hudson Valley, and one of only four hospitals in New York, to earn this top grade 12 consecutive times.
Earlier this year, White Plains Hospital received its third straight five-star quality rating from CMS — the highest distinction offered by the federal agency – making it the only hospital in Westchester and Fairfield counties, as well as in the Hudson Valley, to earn five stars for three consecutive years.
“We are extremely proud to be consistently named among the top hospitals in the country,” said Dr. Rafael Torres, Chief Quality Officer at White Plains Hospital. “Being recognized as the top general hospital is a great testament to our staff and its laser focus on overall quality and providing an exceptional patient experience.”
"White Plains Hospital has set the standard for patient safety, earning the prestigious distinction of a Top Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This elite honor reflects the exceptional efforts of the entire team and places White Plains Hospital among the nation's elite in healthcare. Congratulations to all who made this remarkable achievement possible."

About The Leapfrog Group
Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps for patient safety. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey and new Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Survey collect and transparently report hospital and ASC performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Leapfrog's other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
