Dr. Ryan Downey Joins White Plains Hospital as Director of Nuclear Medicine

White Plains, N.Y. (January 20, 2026) – White Plains Hospital has named Dr. Ryan Downey Director of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Downey will provide advanced nuclear medicine and molecular imaging services, including PET/CT, in support of accurate diagnosis, disease staging, and treatment monitoring. Working closely with referring physicians across the hospital, he will help guide patient care in oncology, abdominal and thoracic disease, and other complex medical conditions.

Dr. Downey completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Michigan and went on to complete fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging at UCSF Medical Center and Nuclear Medicine at Duke University Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

He brings extensive experience from both academic medical centers and large healthcare systems. Prior to joining White Plains Hospital, Dr. Downey served as an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he specialized in nuclear medicine and body imaging and was actively involved in physician training. He has also held leadership roles overseeing nuclear medicine services and developing innovative imaging programs supporting cancer care.

Dr. Downey is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of several national professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. In addition, he holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Nuclear Radiology from the American Board of Radiology.

His clinical and academic work has been presented nationally and published in peer-reviewed journals such as Radiology, Clinical Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, and Journal of Neuroscience.
